Dr. Christensen founded the Ankle & Foot Clinic of Everett in 1988. He has specialized in complex reconstructive foot and ankle surgery for 25 years. His primary interest is the ankle and hindfoot particularly total ankle replacement, cartilage resurfacing of the ankle, ankle and subtalar arthroscopy, flatfoot reconstruction and foot & ankle trauma.
Dr. Christensen received his early education in his home state of Massachusetts. He obtained a bachelors degree with honors in biology from Northeastern University in Boston in 1979, and graduated from the California College of Podiatric Medicine in 1983. He received his training in Reconstructive Foot & Ankle Surgery at the Northwest Podiatric Surgical Residency Program at Waldo General Hospital, graduating in 1985.
Dr. Christensen is Board Certified in Foot and Ankle Surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and is appointed to the medical staff at Providence Regional Medical Center - Everett and Swedish Medical Center in Seattle. Dr. Christensen has presented over 300 regional, national, and international lectures and written over 60 papers and book chapters on foot & ankle surgery. Dr. Christensen is founder and director of the Northwest Surgical Biomechanics Laboratory at Swedish Medical Center. This laboratory is dedicated to furthering the understanding of foot and ankle deformities and conditions and methods to better treat them. Since its inception in 1993, the laboratory has one numerous awards via various presentations at national meetings and journal publications.
He is past chairman of Podiatic Surgery at Swedish Medical Center; served on the Board of Directors for the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons, and is current Research Director for the Northwest Podiatric Foundation.
Dr. Christensen shares his personal time with his wife, and his Smooth Collie, Zack. He enjoys collecting wines, writing, bike riding, and boating with his family.
